Syosset, NY, 2003.06.24--In a stunning upset tonight, G.I.A./Girls in Action was defeated by the scrappy Marc Pharmaceuticals squad by a score of 29-28 in the 2003 Pony League World Series at Baylis East Field.
G.I.A./Girls in Action, coached by Jacki Mitchell, Dawn Gertler and Michael Lydon, finished the regular season atop the American Division of the Pony League with a perfect 12-0-0-0-0 record. Marc Pharmaceuticals, coached by George Bird, Scott Saunders and Howard Raphaelson, finished in second place in the National Division with a 6-2-1-2-1 tally for the season.
