Syosset Storm edges Syosset Sluggers
Syosset, NY 22 June 2005--What could possibly have topped all the regular season action in the Junior League playoffs? A one-run, nail-biting, extra-inning victory, that's what. And tonight at Syosset-Woodbury Park, in a game that was nearly rained and thundered out, that's exactly what local sports fans got as the Syosset Storm defeated the Syosset Sluggers in an "all-Syosset" playoff championship finale. The score was 5-4.

The Regular Season comes to an exciting climax |
In as exciting a finish as SYAC has seen in years, Camhi's Cuspids took the top trophy in the Junior League American division. In the June 9th season-finale action, last-place Prestige Employee Administrators took out former first place Syosset Sluggers in a one-run nail-biter, dropping them to third place while Mr. Pickle's victory over The Wacky Pack broke up a potential three-way tie for third place. In the National Division, it was no surprise as Syosset Storm rolled to a final record of 10-1-0. Brand, Glick & Brand, P.C., Storks and Buddy & Clyde's Girls slugged it out all season, finishing second, third and fourth respectively in a close race. Below is the schedule for the 2005 Junior League Playoffs After each game was completed, the scores of those games were reported in the same "arrow." This is a single-elimination playoff. If you win, you move on to the next round. If you lose, "see you next year!" An umpire no-show in the first round's Walt Whitman playoff game threw the rest of the playoff schedule into turmoil. Commissioner Phil Rosen worked with coaches to rearrange the schedule, navigating among the various school-related obstacles in the next week's calendar. |

Includes all scores reported by Tuesday, 7 June 2005 at 11:30pm.

*Division standings are determined by points divided by games played. Points are assigned as follows: 1 for a win, 1/2 for a tie and 0 for a loss. See the Rules for additional clarification. In the American Division, Team 4 placed ahead of Team 7 because they split their two meetings but Team 4 outscored Team 7 in those games. In the National Division, Team 14 placed ahead of Team 9 because they won their only meeting (their second meeting was a mutual forfeit).
