Highlights of the 2005 Fall Ball Season |
|
Syosset, NY, 2 January 2006--The fall 2005 season was a great experience for more than 40 girls now participating in SYAC Girls Travel Softball. Three SYAC travel teams competed in the National Junior Baseball League. This was the fourth season that SYAC has fielded travel teamsand further expansion is in the plans. The Syosset Xtreme competed in the U12 Division of NJBL and held its own against some very worthy competition from Nassau and Suffolk counties. The Xtreme closed out their season November 8 with a win over the ESM Sharks. The team was coached by Bob Carton, Roger Mummert and Dan Singer. The Syosset Flames achieved a third-place finish in the U10 Division of NJBL, in their first season as a team. The Flames faced some very tough opposition, including teams that have been together several years and competed in tournament play. Coaches Bob Mitchell, Ben Jacobson and Bruce Littman did an excellent job in putting together an 8-4 record. The Syosset Fire also enjoyed a great experience their first season out as a team. Coaches Ken Beck, Pam Emerson and Jack Warfield did a great job in holding practices and competing against far more experienced squads in the U10 Division. The Travel Program also included hitting and fielding clinics from training professionals Angel Mangual of Baseball Plus and Rusty Torres, who played for the New York Yankees and other big league teams. SYAC looks forward to expanding the Travel program further in the future.
