Syosset, NY 11 June 2007—The 2007 Senior League season is officially over. Here's Commissioner Rich Levitan's analysis of the way this year's season finished up...

In the American league, both UBS Capital Gains (Team 5) and Butera's (Team 6) had the same record (7-3). According to the SYAC rule book, in the event of a tie on percentage, the teams are then compared by how they played against each other, and, if necessary, against the rest of their division during the season.

Generally, all teams will play one or two games against each other during a season. If two teams played twice and split, the team with the higher total score of the two games wins. If they played twice and tied, the team with the fewer runs scored against it during the season is awarded the higher position. If, at this point, the teams are still tied, they would have a one-game playoff to determine the standing.

When they played each other, UBS Capital Gains won the first game (2-0) and Butera's won the second encounter (3-1); so they split games and scored 3 runs against each other. However, in the regular season, UBS Capital Gains had 28 runs scored against them while Butera's had 43 runs scored against them. Therefore, UBS Capital Gains finished in first place in the American division.

Congratulations on a great season!
