X-Rays see through Hot Shots
to become 2008 Junior League Champions

Syosset, NY 19 June 2008—At the Hap Harris C Stadium tonight at the back of the Syosset High School campus, underdog HMG Radical X-Rays had a come from behind win to beat the Hot Shots in the 2008 Junior League Playoff finals.

Rachel Greenspan, the pitcher for the HMG X-Rays, threw strikes all night and stuck out the last batter to muzzle the Hot Shots. Timely hitting by her teammates Yuuka Kimora, Rachel Siskind and Caroline Feibert helped Rachel secure the playoff Championship victory for their team.

Though the skies were blue at game time and the clouds began moving in almost immediately, the weather gods were on SYAC's side tonight.

The Hot Shots jumped out to a 4-0 lead scoring twice in the top of the first and twice again in the top of the second. HMG X-Rays quickly responded by cutting that lead to 4-3. Hot Shots then added five runs to take a 9-3 lead only to watch the X-Rays close the gap and then move ahead 10-9 lead in the bottom of the fifth. The deal was sealed in the top of the sixth with the X-Rays' pitcher putting an end to any comeback hope for the Hot Shots.

The Hot Shots' pitcher Jamie Goldstein also threw a great game and even had a "Matrix moment," apparently bending time and space to avoid getting drilled in the head by a line drive up the middle that some spectators said could have resulted in a real nasty injury.

The fielding for both teams was awesome. Sarah Sklar of the Hot Shots provided the defensive gems of the night being at the front end of not one but two double plays, catching pop ups and tossing to first in each play.
