Syosset, NY 3 June 2009--At tonight's Syosset High School Senior Athletic Banquet, the Board of SYAC Girls Softball gave out its second annual SYAC Scholarship. The award was created to honor graduating Senior members of the Syosset Lady Braves, the varsity girls sofball team at Syosset High School, who grew up playing in SYAC Girls Softball.

Only one graduating senior Lady Brave was a former SYAC player this season. The $100 award was given to Christina Jelonek.

The award certificate reads, in part, “The Board of SYAC Girls Softball congratulates you on your graduation from Syosset High School, thanks you for the fine example you set for the nearly five hundred girls who participate in SYAC each season, and wish you continued success in college and everything you do in the future.”

The event was held at The Woodlands in the Town of Oyster Bay Golf Course.
